Typical Cost Breakdowns for Pellet Stove Systems
The first matter to clarify about cost is what we mean by 'pellet stove systems'. Few clients just buy a pellet stove alone from a supplier. If one does, there is much less likelihood of the system working well and no stove manufacturing company would guarantee the whole system anyway. It is always advisable to stick as far as possible to one single supplier and contractor. The detailed description of a pellet stove system includes a host of devices that are not needed for oil or gas heating systems. Given this, heating systems that are being converted from conventional fuels such as oil or gas will require a one-off investment in the full system. The pellet stoves require many more elements than most conventional boilers:1. Pellet store (or buy a small scale pellet mill to make pellets at home)
2. Pellet conveyance system
3. Sophisticated controls
4. Accumulator
5. Fuel system
6. Heating circuits
It is easy to see that the stoves and controls form the major part of the typical domestic pellet stove installation, followed by the wet radiator heating circuits, if not already in place and the pellet store. Both the fuel and conveyor system are significant expenses, but relatively cheaper.
Obviously, the breakdown and exact costs will vary between supplier and pellet stove system type, but again, based on actual costing for a 20-30kW domestic stove system, we see a very similar pattern. However, the vacuum feed conveyance system cost element is noticeably proportionally a little larger than the typical system figures in the actual school system cost breakdown.
